About “This Journey of Life has just Begun”

“This Journey of Life has just Begun” is about a young girl who is trying to make it in life.  She had a baby at a very young age. When her baby grows up, she is raped and tortured by her teacher. The daughter starts acting loose after what happens to her, but God takes a hold on her life.

DP: When did you first decide you wanted to become an author?

Natisha: When I was about 8 years old, I wanted to become an author. I have always had a passion for writing.

DP: How did you decide on the idea for your first book?

Natisha: I was thinking about the time when I was a little girl, how so many things could happen to me. I decided that it was time to tell my story to others.

DP: How long did it take you to write your first book?

Natisha: 2 full months.

DP: Did you self-publish or are you signed to a publishing company?

Natisha: Yes I got my book published by a publishing company.

DP: How did you decide on the cover for your most recent book?

Natisha: I pray a lot in my room. That’s what made me choose my front cover.

DP: Tell us about your writing style. Do you write on a schedule?

Natisha: I balance my writing.

DP: What makes your writing unique?

Natisha: Because God gave me a gift to write.

DP: As a writer, what motivates you?

Natisha: I am motivated by my desire to be successful and accomplish my goals. And my kids motivate me as well. They made me the person I am today. I want to see better things in life besides poverty.

DP: How do you balance your writing and various responsibilities that come along with being an independent author?

Natisha: I usually write in the nighttime, because during the day I am very busy with my home-based business. My kids are in college. I do ministry work and enjoy being a wife as well. So everything I do is part-time.

DP: When you’re not writing what are you doing?

Natisha: I go to church, I work on my home-based business, and I also take mini vacations. I spend time with my family and I do what I love to do.

DP: What’s a typical day like for you?

Natisha: Life itself has its ups and downs, so I take each day, one time day at a time.

DP: Tell us about your last book signing.

Natisha: I did not do a book signing due to the late arrival on my books. But I am planning to have a book signing in the future.

DP: Do you have contests or giveaways?

Natisha: No not yet! But I’m gonna start in early march 2013.

DP: Many independent authors find it hard to get readers to buy their books. How did you handle the challenges that come along with being a first-time author in a competitive and ever-changing market?

Natisha: I had my publishing company help me sell my books. My friends help me as well.

DP: What did you do on your 2nd book that you did not do in your first one?

Natisha: I did a better job on my book cover.

DP: If you could give one piece of advice to an up and coming author, what would it be?

Natisha: Make sure you pick a good editor because I had problems with my book being edited the right way. Now my book is being edited by a great editor.

DP: Where can readers purchase a copy of your book?

Natisha: www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, and at www.authorhouse.com
